Star Refrigeration Humble Beginnings
Star Refrigeration Technology
Founded in 1970 by two mechanical engineers, Anthony Brown and Dr Forbes Pearson, and operating from the later home in Glasgow, Star Refrigeration's first steps in the industrial refrigeration and heating business were small and tentative, after the two men were made redundant. But fast-forward 43 years, and the company has matured into a diverse business group with more than 300 staff in 11 locations across the UK and a number of agents in Europe and Asia - and it is the largest and most successful independent cooling and heating contractor in the UK.
Star Refrigeration has expanded from an industrial refrigeration company to a multi-faceted engineering group through the acquisition and development of a range of businesses that span consultancy, education, design through to commissioning and maintenance of HVACR & M&E solutions.
From the beginning, the company focused on the development of sustainable solutions and pioneered revolutionary natural refrigeration technology, for which they have gained international reputation through the industry awards and accolades received. Its most recent success involved the design, development and installation of an Ammonia District Heat Pump in Norway that uses the freezing waters of the North Sea as a renewable source with zero global warming impact to provide heating and hot water for the 60,000 people living in Drammen's homes and businesses.
Star have an unrivalled record of award-winning products and more than 100 patents, including the most commonly used refrigerants in the world today.
Star Refrigeration promotes youth employment through its apprenticeship scheme and has been recognised as one of the top "100 Best Companies to work for" by The Sunday Times.
